Hey guys! I hope you all had a great week. Sorry for the lack of the post last week, since it was thanksgiving I decided to give your eyes a break. But, I hope you all had a great thanksgiving, I don’t know about you but I’m already counting down the days till Christmas. However, this season is my favorite, because on top of the cute lights, ad Jesus Birthday. It is also the comfiest, I know I love bundling up in a blanket with coffee to watch a movie.
I love the holiday season because it is comfortable. In case you haven’t picked up on it today’s topic is comfort.
We all love being comfortable, but not really going out of our comfort zone. This was also the case for Abram. Let’s look at Genesis 12:1-3
The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. “I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
Right her is a very early example of God calling someone out of their comfort zone and promising to bless the person. God calls all of us out of our comfort zones. But here God is calling Abram out of his comfort zone and blessing him. Just like he did for Moses. God told Moses to go lead the Israelites out of captivity from Pharaoh. But Moses didn’t want to because he was slow to speech. Which probably meant that he was one to stutter. Moses originally told God no he didn’t want to. And then got ended up sending him and blessing Moses later on in the story. These are just examples of how God has used people to get out of their comfort zone.
An example of me coming out of my comfort zone with a couple summers ago. When I was in California. I had to go door to door and ask people to come to our summer camp that we were hosting. And at the beginning I was very anxious. Because I didn’t like talking to people I don’t know and I didn’t really want to do it. But a friend of mine pushed me out of my comfort zone, and helped me talk to different people. My friend was a big encouragement for me to talk to these people. Because later that week I had to talk to somebody in Spanish. But I never would have had the confidence to speak Spanish if it wasn’t for my friend pushing me to speak English.
As you can see, your comfort zone grows every time you take a step out!
This week I challenge you to go a little bit out of your comfort zone and do something that you normally wouldn’t do. But do it for the glory of God because that’s what he wants to do and he doesn’t want you to miss the opportunity he has planned.
Thanks for popping in,
