Hey guys, welcome back. I hope everyone is having a great day, and having had a great week as well. My name is Raegan, and I am so happy you have joined me today, to talk about being highlighters.
Tony Livigni, the pastor at my church, did a great job explaining what we should look like as Christians. In everyday life, we are tempted to blend in with the crowd, rather than living out God’s word.
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
We are told as Christians, to make other believers. Some might think this as a game for Christians, but it isn’t a game. It is a commandment we are told, by God. in reality, we are to highlight Him. But how do we highlight God? Let us see what the Bible has to say about that.
Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul. Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.
1 Peter 2:11-12
Verses eleven and twelve tell us that we should highlight God through our lives.
The first example in the verse is talking about living ‘[A] good life among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong.” We should make it so people notice something different about the way we act. Also, it says through Good Deeds. This doesn’t mean just do good things to be noticed and praised. We should do good deeds to glorify God, then people will recognize that the deeds that are being done, are being done for God. We should live like Jesus did, when he walked the earth. Jesus walked this Earth-loving everyone, and being a loving person. That seems to go unnoticed, but they don’t understand why we are acting a certain way.
For example, the one time I was talking to someone who most people ignore at our school. I wasn’t doing this to be noticed and to be praised, but rather just to Love them the way Jesus loves me, and show them Jesus’s love through me. As I was being kind to this girl, people questioned why I was so nice to them. She even asked me, and I just said, “I care about you, and I want to show you the love I experience every day.” She was confused at first, but it made sense and the girl started to investigate a relationship with God. Later, she decided to pray with me, and started going to church with her family.
This wasn’t done for me feeling good, but rather for me to glorify God. This was me just being a highlight for God, so that people can see God through me.
This week I challenge you to reflect God to someone. It can be as small as being kind to someone in school, to serving in a soup kitchen.
Have a great week,
