Welcome back! Today, we are going to talk about the second part of prayer. Recap from last week we talked about the first part which is praising! It was good, so I recommend you go check that one out either before or after this one.
I am sorry the one we are talking about today is probably everyone’s least favorite. It’s the hardest one for people to do.
This part is called CONFESSION!
Everyone struggles with confessing! It can be very difficult because of the vulnerability and self reflection that it takes. It is hard to be honest with yourself about things you might be wrong about.
Funny story, around 3 years ago my youngest brother at the time was probably six decided to cut the cats’ hair. He really has never confessed to it, until just recently he told me and my mom that he cut the cats hair but… “The cat wanted revenge so he cut my hair.”
To this day my brother still won’t admit to cutting his own hair. But, he finally confessed after many years to cutting the cats hair.
This one is probably everyone’s least favorite because it is SOOO hard!
This is so hard because no one likes to admit they have done wrong! NOBODY!
But guys, we all have done wrong .. Listen to this craziness: for God, the things someone does wrong is viewed as all the same. Let’s compare…
World: Murder is WAY worse than being angry at someone.
Gods Eyes: Being Angry at someone is just as bad as murder.
“You have heard that our ancestors were told, ‘You must not murder. If you commit murder, you are subject to judgment.’ But I say, if you are even angry with someone, you are subject to judgment! If you call someone an idiot, you are in danger of being brought before the court.”
Matthew 5:21-22 NLT
But don’t fret God forgives all sins!!
Romans 10:10 “For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved”.
You are saved after those two easy steps and God forgives you!
However, guys, just because God saves us doesn’t mean it saves us from punishments on Earth.
Just imagine being in a jail cell and saying “You have to let me go because Jesus forgives me!”
I mean that would be pretty epic if believing God freed us from jail. Sadly it doesn’t work like that.
But, also when you confess remember we all sin and fall short of the glory of God. Confessing isn’t a huge, scary thing. But we all mess up.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;your works are wonderful I know that full well.
I said, “Have mercy on me, Lord; heal me, for I have sinned against you.”
This weeks challenge is for you to add confession to your prayer. But, to start with praising. Then add confession this week. This is going to be a challenge. Confessing can be so hard, but God already knows what has been done. It’s all okay, good luck but I know you guys got this! You are stronger than you think!! By the end of this four week talk, we will have all four parts.
Love you, Raegan
