Being Grateful

Hey guys!! Welcome back! I hope you guys all had an amazing weekend celebrating the miracle of the Resurrection of Jesus. I had a great time with my family and friends this weekend, and I don’t know about you guys- but Easter has grown to be one of my favorite holidays! I think if you have been a Christ follower for some time, the story of Easter can be something we become numb to. We’ve heard the stories time and time again, and it just feels like Easter is a routine. This year, I challenged myself to not become numb to the death and resurrection of Jesus. And let me tell you, this was my favorite Easter yet!

Today I am going to be sharing on being grateful. Easter weekend is a great time to reflect and show gratitude to Jesus for what He has done for us. As Christians, we must have a grateful heart… how could we not show our gratefulness to the One who has set us free from DEATH and we now can live our lives because of Him!

Gratefulness should not be a phase, but a lifestyle! We need to live our lives in evidence of the gratefulness of the gift of the life and death of Jesus that we have! When I was in middle school, I remember trying to say simply “thank you” more often. I ended up saying thank you so much that it stuck and to this day I try to thank everyone as much as possible! When I was on Operation Barnabas, one of my leaders, Max, challenged us to keep a grateful journal to write down all things, circumstances, people, and everything in between! I challenge you to pray and ask God to help you to be more grateful, and see what He has in store for you!

Here are some reasons we should be egg-stra grateful this Easter.. (Like what I did there?? ;))

  • Jesus died for your sins. “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
  • Death is DEFEATED!! 1 Corinthians 55-57 says “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our LORD Jesus Christ” This verse not only talks about how death is defeated, but how we should be grateful to God!
  • Jesus is risen! “He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.” Matthew 28:6 Jesus said He was going to be raised from the dead, and He kept His promise! Praise the Lord!!

I believe that someone can never be too grateful, and that there is always more ways to be thankful and things to do to show gratuity towards others. When we cultivate a spirit of thankfulness, it is certain that it will rub off onto others. A habit of saying thanks will turn into a beautiful lifestyle of gratefulness.

This week, I challenge you to be more thankful for the blessings you have and receive. A grateful heart will completely change your attitude!! Love you guys, have a great week!

Love, A
