Strong and Courageous Part 3

Hey guys!! Guess where I am!! ALABAMA! (I know, I have high schoolers and middle schoolers reading this. How many of you started singing the states song? Because I know I am right now!) Now I am on a beach, not in cold Ohio, sorry my fellow Ohioans or wherever else you might be that isn’t warm! If you are a first-time reader, WELCOME! So glad you are checking us out. My name is Raegan and I am one of the writers on this blog. There is one other writer, her name is Alyssa. Make sure to check out her posts too!! But like I was saying, if this is your first time you are entering in the middle of sorta like a series on Joshua 1. I planned on this being a one day post, but it definitely isn’t. It’s now three and hardly done. I recommend before you read this one you check out the two before it.

Story time!

So this week, I was wanting to talk to my grandma(the one who moved) but I was afraid. However, I was working on my post and I was like I can’t tell my readers to go about their life being strong and courageous when I am too afraid to call my grandma. I called her and was going to talk to her about everything. I am/was am still hurt with everything and I am still upset, so I wanted to talk to her. When I called her she didn’t pick up. (this Is because she was in the bathtub. TMI!) She ended up calling me around two hours later. (She must have been really pruney) When she called me I was falling asleep, we continued with small talk and I chickened out on actually talking to her about how I felt. When Tuesday came around I decided to reach out because I began to feel hypocritical to you guys. I told her how I was feeling and I told her everything. If I can do that and be strong and courageous then so can you! Why? Because I have been Uber worried about this and I did it! And it wasn’t that bad in the end.

But, we are going to pick up where we left off in verse six. We are going to look at verses 6-11….

Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.

“Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.  Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips;meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

So Joshua ordered the officers of the people:  “Go through the camp and tell the people, ‘Get your provisions ready. Three days from now you will cross the Jordan here to go in and take possession of the land the Lord your God is giving you for your own.’”

Joshua 1:6-11

Like stated in last post the four words BE STRONG AND COURAGEOUS popped up three times alone in these five verses.

I also gave you all a challenge, if any of you did it, how did it go?

For me literally as I was finishing up that last post i decided I was going to be strong and courageous and I called someone that I needed to call and talk to. That was last week.

Back to verse six

Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.

Like stated in the first post on Joshua, this is important, because back in Genesis, this land was promised, and it was something the Israelites followed Moses around for forty years searching for. This was a promise given by the Lord that would be for filled later in the Bible.

Verse 7

“Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.

would you look at the first words – be strong and VERY courageous. This is the Lord still talking to Joshua. Like most of us, we probably would’ve needed that reminder to be strong and courageous, because we would’ve been beyond terrified. I know I would have!

God is giving Joshua a few pointers. Earlier in Deuteronomy, God brought Moses onto Mount Sinai, where he received the 10 commandments from God.

God is telling Joshua to take those to the wise. God is also telling Joshua to stay on track and not get distracted by anything and keep following where he is supposed to lead the Israelites to!

So that’s it for this week! next week we are going to dig deeper into the other verses! Thanks for checking back!

Love you all! no challenge this week! I’m going to give you guys a break!
