Strong and Courageous Part 2

Welcome back!! I hope you are all having a great week!! So today we are going to continue what we were talking about last week! If you haven’t read that one yet, I recommend you read that one first. It is called “Strong and Courageous”. I say this because we are going to pick up from where we left off.

In last weeks post, we talked about why Joshua’s time was important. Since the Israelites were following Moses, and Moses had just passed away, it was time for a new leader to lead the Israelites to the promised land, that God promised them WAY BACK in Genesis.

We are going to pick up in verse five. We are going to look at verses 5-11….

No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.  Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.

“Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.  Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips;meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

So Joshua ordered the officers of the people:  “Go through the camp and tell the people, ‘Get your provisions ready. Three days from now you will cross the Jordan here to go in and take possession of the land the Lord your God is giving you for your own.’”

Joshua 1:5-11

What do we see being repeated THREE times?

BE STRONG AND COURAGEOUS!

Why is this??? Like I stated last week, Joshua is taking charge now!  After Moses, a pretty wise man, just lead the Israelites for forty years, which is a LONG LONG time. Joshua has a HUGE role to fill. He was probably a little worried, okay more like a lot a bit! He has to be STRONG AND COURAGEOUS!

This is great because this relates to us in everyday situations. We all have times when we are put into situations where either we feel like we are under prepared or just like it shouldn’t be us!

Story time!!

So going on Operation Barnabas, this was my first ever missions trip. This was my first time I have flown anywhere by myself; the first time I was going to be spending a month with strangers! I FELT SO UNPREPARED. I was beyond terrified. Once I landed at LAX! Right! LAX of all places! I felt like I was apart of Miley Cyrus’s song PARTY IN THE USA!

Why??!!?

This line exactly “Cause’ all I see are stilettos”. I rolled up into LAX in sneakers, athletic shorts, and a baggy oversized t-shirt. Definitely not the stilettos that everyone else was wearing.

Another reason why I felt so Unprepare, is once I began meeting all the people around me, they all had missionaries as parents. Or their parents were pastors. Like still pastors right now. Yes, my dad was one, but I still just felt like it wasn’t for me. But I remember my friend told me to be STRONG AND COURAGEOUS!! I remembered that and after three days I felt so prepared and like I was ready to conquer Southern California. I did just that! I was STRONG AND COURAGEOUS through it all, no one stood in my way- not even Satan.

Back to digging apart Joshua 1:5-11

I love it! In verse 5 it literally says that the Lord said to Joshua,  As I was with Moses, so I will be with you!! That would make me feel so much better knowing that God is with me.

OH WAIT! Silly me, he is with me. It says that in Hebrews 13:5 and in Deutomenty that we talked about last week. NEVER WILL I LEAVE YOU NEVER WILL I FORSAKE YOU!!

If that doesn’t make you feel crazy strong then I don’t know guys! God is with us through it all. Even in the darkest times of our lives he is there for us. Even in those moments when you feel like there is no way we you can do whatever might be in your way. You most definitely can because God is with you!!
I have those sticker on my wall and it literally says, “Faith can move mountains!”

I don’t know everyone’s story, even though I would love to (which you totally could email me. Email is under Contact button on the menu bar) I also don’t know where you are faith wise. But I know for me and Alyssa both, we have Faith in God. We have faith that Jesus rose from the dead. Also I do know the word faith is a very “Christian” word as some would say.Faith is actually probably my favorite word ever! If I was to get a tattoo it would be of the word faith written in cursive. But having faith is so important. Look at this verse out of 1st Corinthians!

“So that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power. 1st Corinthians 2:5

We should have faith in God and the power he brings!

Song Recommendation..  “Same Power” by Jeremy Camp!!

I love that song, it literally says

The same power that rose Jesus from the grave

The same power that commands the dead to wake

Lives in us, lives in us”

I love this, why!? BECAUSE THE SAME POWER THAT ROSE JESUS FROM THE GRAVE LIVES IN ME! LIVES IN YOU! LIVES IN THOSE WHO HAVE FAITH!!

Isn’t that great news! We have the power of God living in us!! But guys, I am just kidding about digging apart all of Joshua 1:5-11. I guess we will have to just pick up next week since there is sooo much to say!!

However, this weeks challenge is going to be remember in times when you feel unprepared or not fit for the situation remember to be STRONG AND COURAGEOUS, and remember THE SAME POWER THAT ROSE JESUS FROM THE GRAVE LIVES IN ME! LIVES IN YOU!

Crazy!!  That’s what I am leaving you guys with that!

Love you all, Raegan
